The Assessments

The Admissions Assessment is an evaluation of the child’s verbal and nonverbal development, using assessment materials determined by the independent schools for admission to grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade.
The WPPSI-IV is administered to children ages 3 to 7 and the WISC-V is for children 6 years of age and older.
A written report and a conference will be provided to the parents. The report is then forwarded by EAA to designated schools. For more information, please click here.

The Psycho-educational Evaluation is a battery of tests which include the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (ages 6-16) or the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (ages 16 and above) and the Woodcock-Johnson Cognitive and Educational Assessments, as well as other assessment measures.  The evaluation is administered by an on-staff psychologist and an educational diagnostician.  The purpose of this evaluation will be to determine whether your child has a learning disability, deficits in attention/executive functioning, or processing deficits that are interfering with academic potential.  This evaluation will pinpoint your child’s cognitive and academic strengths as well as areas of vulnerability that can affect performance in school.

The evaluation requires three or four testing sessions, each of which is one hour and a half to two hours in length.  The evaluation has three components:  (1) evaluation of cognitive abilities using both verbal and visual activities; (2) assessment of processing skills (auditory and visual) which tap memory issues, speed issues, and attention issues;   (3) academic performance in reading, writing/spelling, and math.  After the final testing session, a written report will be prepared and presented at a personal conference with the tester (usually within three to four weeks).  The session will include a review of the evaluation, and recommendations for the school and parents.
